OUR MISS GIBBS

THE ROYAL COMIC OPERA COMPANY.

•J.he phenomenally successful comic, opera, "Our Miss Gibbs," to be presented here by Mr J. C' Williamson's Company on Tuesday, .October 10th, will be given in precisely the same style and manner as> played in tlhe large Australian cities. No musical play has so easily won in the race as "Our Miss Gibbs." It started! in Sydney with a record run of eight and a hlalf months, and continued to do the greatest business ever known in, that city'. Some months ago it was presented at HSs Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, wirtib. renewed animation and increased pace, being withdrawn in the height of its success on account of imjperative structural alterations to the theatre. Musically, the name of Ivan Gai-yiU, who has- for some time past figured in the bulk of latter-day musical succesises, and Lionel Monckton, who first sprang into favour wlith his "Soldiers in the Bark," appear in connection with the new musical attraction. Years ago Mr Caryll wias a music teacher and Mr Monckton was* struggling to get a footing as a lawyer. The formier was lifted out* of Ms drudgery when he composed his first cpera, "The Lily of Leoville," and the latter took the first stop on the ladder of fame when, he became musiical critic on the London Daily Telegraph. With "Our Miss Gibbs" will come Miss Blanche Browne. Miss Browne played the part of Mary Gibbs at the Gaiety Theatre, succeeding Miss Gertie Miller. Probably no aptresis wno has visited the Dominion has succeeded in becoming so popular asMass Blanche Browne. The Royal Oomlio .Opera Company has been, strengthened for the interpretation of "Our Mis® Gibbs," and includes Mr Bertie Wright, an English come-! dian of excellent reputation,, also Messrs Leslie Holland, Andrew Big-: ginson, Fred. Leslie, C. R. Bantock, Misises Fitzmaurice Gill, Connie Milne, Nellie Wilson, Ivy Srihlilling, and NeHie Calvin. The season will be for one night only, aaid the box plans will be opened at Miss Rive's on Friday, Gcitebeir- lOtfh.
