BALFOUR ESTATE
PETITION FOR SUB-DIVISION. A numerously signed petition, promoted), by tlie PfaWatua Ohamiber of Commerce, has been forwarded to Mr R. B. Ross, M.P., for presentation to Parliament, asking that tihe Government should acquire the Balfour Estta-te, of 3343 acres, situated near the town, for closer settlement. The land, it is pointed out, if subdivided,, would make ideal sheep and dlairy fainffls., for wihidh there is) a goodl demand 1 here, and would support 20 famulies. The estate is surrounded by good roads, and is owned by an absentee.— Herald.
