THE FRENCH BUDGET.
PARIS, September 7. The Budget estimate for 1912 shows a deficit of £7,000,000, including some £2,500,000 due to social legislation, and £1,500,000 due to increased expenditure on national defence. TJie deficit will be met by a duty on gas and electrio ligiht burners, the readjustment of certain taxes, and a larger annual repayment of the State loan by the Eastern Railway.
