A MISTAKEN] FLAG THE NATIONALISTS CREED. Received This Morning, 12.20 o'clock. OTTAWA, September 10. The decorations in honour of the visit of Sir Wilfrid Laurier to Windsor, Ontario, included an Australian flag. This caused some excitement, the people thinking that the "Union Jack," with the . "Southern Cross," was intended to forecast the Canadian ensign under reciprocity—a mixture of the Union Jack with the Stars and Stripes. The explanation was considered satisfactory.
Mr Bourassa, Leader of the Nationalists. assured a crowded demonstration that the creed of the Nationalists was not anti-British, but loyalty to Canada first, and afterwards loyalty to the Mother Country. If Canada was attacked, even by France, the duty of all loyal Canadians, French and English would be to arm themselves. The speech caused a profound impression.
