At the meeting of stewards of the Masterton Racing CHub on'j Saturday last, a circular letter was read from Sir George CSitford, President of the New Zealand; Hating Conference, requesting support for the N.Z. To give adequate .support, it was suggested that a isum of ab least £2500 would be required from Eiaoing Glulbs, of wMoh it was calculated that about £33 would be Mastterton'is proposition. The contribution would, of gour®e, be purely voluntary. Mr 0. \j. Cooper stated that tlhe idea of .the League wtas to form branches throughout the Dominion, <and thus create an organisation which would be fellt at the elections'. Mr McLaehilian urged the importance of su>dh a. movemenit, and it was decoded, on the motion of Mr Cooper, iseconded by Mr MoLadhlian, "That the secretary write to the secretary of the Sports Protection League, and ask what steps have been taken towards fonmiing, branches throughout the Dominion, with a view to the formation of .a local branch." It was also suggested that other 6portdng institutions am ithe district be askedl to co-openate'.
