MR CYRIL W. TANNER.
This gentlieman is wooing +,he x suffrages .of the Wairarapa eledtors in the interests of Liberalism. He is a New ZeaOlander by birth,, and owned a, smiall farm ..inthe .Wairarapa for fifteen year®. ' This, with a smattering of Liberalism of the Seddonian order, seenns to constitute his chief claim, to the suffrages of the people. It seems a pity that one who has obviously no chance, at the ensuing electionisi, .should enter the lists and possibly put the country to .the experose of a iseaond ballot. Mr Tanner may he a. born politician. He may possess many of the qua&iies which, go to make a statesman; But he has no more chance of representing the ,Waiirarapa electorate in Parliament at thfe stage .than- he has of becoming the ruling'potentate of China.
