Mr Alf Snowball left Miasterton for Dannevirke yesterday morning. The death is announced of Mrs M. A. Dolbel, relict of the late Mr Rioiiard Dolbel, of Taradale, Hawke's Bay. Mr E. Prendeville, a well-known member of the Poneke Football Ohib, is leaving. Wellington to join his brother in Eketahuna.
Mr Horatio Everett, of Riwaka, ? aas been nominated by the Nelson District Fruitgrowers' Association to represent New Zealand at the Australian Fruitgrowers' Conference to be held in Brisbane early in October next.
Another old and highly respected resident of Hokitika; in the person of James Reynolds, passed away on Tuesday evening, after a protracted illness. The deceased had undertaken many important bridge building contracts, and he was one of those who constructed the Hokitika wharf.
Mr J. T. Johnson, wlio contested the Taieri seat against the Hon. Thos. Mackenzie at last election, having conferred wit electors resident at Mosgiel, Allanton, and Brighton, has decided to stand for the Chalmers electorate.
The Very Rev. There passed away on Tuesday afternoon in the person of. Mr Martin Cunningham, one of the truest of .he fine body of pioneer miners of the West Coast. For many years he resided ia South Westland, with his mate, Mr Martin Nugent, a mateship of forty years standing, and with whom le went to Hokitika to rest from toil and live out the end of their days together. At the Oddfellow®' Hall, Court Robin Hood, Port Ahuniri, last Monday evening, a presentation was made to Mr Wilkie Who leaves on Tuesday morning to enter business at. Kaitawa, about nine miles out of Pahiatua. Bro. Arnott presented Mid Wilkie with a cake dish, and Mr- W. Wilkie with a; travelling outfit and a substantial cheqpe. Bro. Arnott; in making the presentation referred to the 24 years of valuable service that Mr Wilkie had done in the lodge. He expressed regret in losing so enthusiastic and pooular a member, and wished both him, his wafe, and us family eyery success in tlfe future. 'The recipient suitably responded. Mr Fuller, who is severing his connection -with the Grey town Post. Office, to, take up the position pf postmaster at Riaglan; was presented by the sfcaff on Saturday evening, with a silver ink stand. The presentation was made by the postmaster, Mr Mc~ fTattie, who spoke in eulogistio terms of Mr Fuller's capabilities. Mr Fuller leaves for his new home in the north to-day., Mr W. Harris, manager of Hautotara station, is Fomewhat isepiously ill, and is being- atended by two doctors. ' ;• ■
