Mr A. H. Herbert' addressed a meeting at Mauriceville East on Saturday oiiiglit. Tihere was an attendance of fully fifty .settlers, and) the speaker was accorded a good neoeption. Mr George Braggins _ occupied.l the chair. At tlie conclusion. of the address Mr Braggiois moved, and .Mr Jiorgansan s&condod, "That Mr Herbert be accorded a heart y vote of thanks." uVir J. Kennedy moved as atn amendment that this meeting (stall hits confidence in the Government. The amendment found mo seconder, and the motion was oararied by acclamation..
MR SYKES Af HUKANUI.
Mr G. R. Sykes addressed a meeting of electors at Hukanui on. Saturday ndgihlt. Mr Mowbray occupied the chair, and Mr Sykes ■wiais given ami enthusiastic reception, Ms tspeeah being an, similar lines to that delivered at Masterton. A large number of question® "were asked and answered to the evident satisfaction "of the audience. • At the conclusion of tihe address, Mr 'Syke® ,was accorded a liearty vote of thank® to the- motion of Mr J. Hiuniter, seconded by Mr 0. W. Twentyman. Tbe following .resolution!, proposed by/Mir A. Ballasi, seconded' by Mr A. Walden, was carried amidst cheering: "That the electors of Hukanui oanisidier that tihe. time lhas arrived when the present administration , should be ousted frim office." 1
