The Rev. D. G. Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening, issued th& following summary and forecast:— ;
The barometer fallen, in th© Nortlhi.' itsland, .but lias- had. a rising tendency in tibie South. Easterly winds,, strong to gale, hairo prevailed, with main morthiwiard of Eauat Cape and Kawhia, and' isoutherly Winds' and cold and changeable weather eisjewhiere.
Present indicationis are for cold and stormy weather, witih heavy rain in. most parts of the South Island. Cold and ohlaimgeable elsaWbeiie. Strong eaisterly and' southerly winds probaiblle gemerallly, land a. isdowHy rising barometer everywhere ishortly.
