A Russo-German Agreement has been signed respecting Persian trade and railway development.

TEHERAN, August 21
Major Stokes's appointment as organiser of the Persian army depended on his resignation from the Indian army. Britain declined to accept his resignation, and recommended- the employment of an officer belonging to a minor Power. The Nationalist volunteers captured the ex-Shali's stronghold at Barfrush.
