Si: - William Steward asked that tire House be afforded a:i opportunity of discussing the .Representation Commission's report at an. early date. He asked the Government to make the matter clear to the public. Mr, Hanan said the House, should have* the earliest opportunity of discussing the report. Mr J. Allen suggested that the I method of fixing representation j should ibe altered. As the South IsI land appeared to be making no progress with its population, ith© representation might be made stable there, and where progress was being made, as in the North Island, the present system could still obtain. The Hon. G. .Fowlds said it was quite probable, if Mi- Allen's plan were adopted, that the change in boundaries might be much greater than tthey were when they were losing seats. There was only ono way to get over the difficulty, and that*-was to divide the Dominion into areas, and group them. Mr .Massey asked if maps or plans setting out the proposed boundaries had ibeen issued from the Survey Department prior to the Representation Commission meeting. The suggestion was that the boundaries nvern already prepared when tho Commission, met. ' ■ TlnrHon. R. MeKerizie said there. was nothing in the contention that" ;.
