THE EAST COAST RAILWAY.

A NAPIER MOVEMENT. - At the meeting of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce yesterday, a letter was read from the Napier Oh-iimber of Commerce, asking for support in inducing Parliament to place a substantial sum on the Estimates for the Napier-Gishorno end of the East Coast railway. The chairman (Mr Henderson) thought that the request of the Napier Chamber should'be supported. Mr Daniell did not think this Chamber should support Napier. There was only a limited amount of money available, and if this was expended on the Napier-Gisborne railM r ay, it would not be available for the Rimutaka deviation. Mr J. Caselberg did not think that the opinion of this Chamber would influence the position one way or another. - Mr Graham sympathised with the position taken up by Mr Daniell. The chairman moved it hat this Chamber support the request of the Naroier Chamber.
