FIRE AT PETONE.

Last Night. A fire at Potone early tins, morning destroyed three seven-roomed houses. Two were owned by -George Lee and one by William Lee. Each house, was insured for £27o—one in the South British, and the others .in. the Atlas. Office. The fire started in the house occupied by W. Lee, whose furniture was insured for £l5O in the South British. ( The building was totally destroyed. The fire then spread to an: unoccupied house, -which was in flames when the Brigade arrived. The third houre, occupied ;by Mr Bowater, went next, .but in tb case anost of the furniture, which was insured for £IOO in the SouthBritish office, was saved. The Brigade) was greatly handicapped in its work, as- the nearest fire plug was a quarter of a mile away.
