THE CRICKET ASSOCIATION
DAYLIGHT SAVING AND DRILLS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Last Night. The Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association has decided to support Mr T. K. Sidey's Daylight Saving Bill, and the Secretary has been instructed to telegraph to the Christelmrch members of Parliament to support the Bill. The Committee also discussed the arrangements made locally for parades for military training, the Defence authorities having fixed certain alternate Saturdays in October, November, and December. It was pointed out that unless altered this would mean a death blow to cricket, as youths would not join clubs when they knew that their military duties would not permit them to enter for competitions. It was suggested that parades rhould be held 011 consecutive Saturdays and should bo spread over the year, and not confined practically to the summer months. A deputation was appointed to wait on the •officer commanding the district, to place the views of the Association before him.
