THE NEW BOUNDARIES.
SLIGHT ALTERATION IN MAS' TERTON.
WAIRARAPA NOT AFFECTED.
The new electoral 'boundaries, aa arranged by the Boundaries Commission, were published in a special Gazette yesterday. Objections will be received within a month, and when they are gazette dfiually they will becomie law. MASTERTOX.
TJi© Masterton electorate will remain as at present, with -ne addition of the Rakaunui, Pongaroa and Mataikona (Ridiiigs of the AkitioCounty. This will mean an addition of about three hundred names to the Masterton roll.
WAIRARAPA. The Wairarapa electorate has not been, altered. PAHIATUA. The Pahiatua district comprises the whole of the Weber and Wood-v-i-lle Counties, Waihi and AkitioRidings of the Akitio County, and that portion of the Porangahau County already included in the existing' Pahiatua electorate; tho whole of Dannevirke Riding of tho Dannevirke County, with the exception of that portion included in the Waipawa- electoral district hereinbefore described; also those portions of the Mangatoro and Ormond<ville 'Ridings generally lying to the southeast of the iManawatu river; . tho whole of the Waipukurau County (less the Waipukurau town district included in the Waipawa electoral district herein described); the whole of the Porangahau, Eparaima, Tamumu and Oero Ridings. This district includes the Boroughs of Woodville and Pahiatua.
OTHER CHANGES. Briefly put, the result is that the North Island gains one ■seat, to bo knoAvn as Raglan, in the Auckland district, and the South loses' one, Taieri 'and Tuapeka being wiped,out And replaced by a constituency to 'be known as Otago Central. Thu#, if the adhere to their findings, the North Island will havo forty-tiwo -seats and the South Island thirty-four. The new ( seat, , Ragk.n, in the North Island, comprises part of theold Waikato seat, and has absorbed the country from the . est of the Waikato liver to the sea—part of the old Franklin electorate. The newFranklin seat —Franklin is represented hyiMr W. F. Massey, Leader of the Opposition— has decreased considerably in area, that part to the East of the Waikato river having gone into Thames. The North of Auckland constituencies, with the exception of Eden, are not much altered, and that .of Manukau goes more into the Edem County, and the. new Franklin takes a, portion of the old Manukau south v of Otabuha town.
Rangitikei, represented by Mr R. W. Smith, has changed very considerably, taking the Kaitieke and Waimarino Counties from the Tauimaruniii electorate. From the Wanganui River to the Avest of Taumorunui is unchanged. ', The G-isborne electorate, represented Iby Sir James. Carroll, is considerably decreased in area, all thatportion lying to the south-west of the iWairoa Rive? haying" now been put into Ho.Avke''s/ Bay. There are n<r very big changes in the East Coast electorates— Wa-i----rarapa, Masterton, Pahiatua, Waipawa, Hanvke's Bay and Napier, except that Pahiatua' has gone up a. good deal further north into the old WaipaAva, electorate. Wairarapa. is practically unchanged; Manawatu is in the same position. The same remark applies to Oroua. Palmerstoa North, has lessened somewhat in area, and now embraces the Fitzherbe'rt portion of the old Otaki sea*. Wellington, suburbs is now called Wellington Suburbs and Country District. It has .gone further north, and includes Porirua and Pa'hautanui, Avhich means that the hotels, ia those places will in future be included in a dry area, and be closed in due time. The Suburbs will also include that portion of the old Hutt electorate lying to the west of th© railway line. That part has been taken out of the Otaki electorate, Avhich now includes part of the,Mungarpa Riding of the Hutt County. As to the Wellington. Cestral seat, it appears that it has had added .to it tnat portion of Wellington East lying west of Kent. Terrace, and north of Buckle Street. It also takes from Wellingfton South ""tha portion of Wellington South which, was 'bounded >by Tasroian Street, Tainui Terrace and north of Tainui Terrace (to Hankey Street. Wellington North takes from Wellington Suburbs that portion bound-, ed'by Elizabeth Street, Wodesrtown, the main road, and the Kaiwarra stream. Wellington East takes from the old Suburbs seat practically the Avihole of Kilbirnie to the city boundary between. Miramar a»d Wellington. Wellington South, takes from Suburbs that portion lying to the north, of Newtown. Park, including Russell Terrace, Leraud' Street,' Adelaide Road, Ohilka Street, Stanley Street, and Brittomart Street.
