CLAIMS OF LABOUR.
An uncompromising definition of the political aims of Labour, and of what the unions demand from those aspiring to political iplace, is contained in the following conclusion to a manifesto issued by the Dunedin Labourers' Union:— "The combined 'unions have drawn up a platform containing proposals to remedy 'the* existing state of affairs, and stop for ever the depredations of the profit-mongers leagued tog-eth-er for the brigandage of the marker. Those members of Parliament who will not sign a pledge to carry the proposals out will be opposed by men who will be selected by the combined unions affiliated with the Labour Representation Council.. If you do not vote for these candidates you will 'be guilty of an act of treachery as great as if you had blacklegged on your mates whenstriking for higher pay. If you don't vote for the Labour candidates you vote for "things as they are."
