FAT SHEEP COMPETITION.
LONDON AWARDS.
The London awards in connection with the fat sheep competitions under the auspices of the. Masterton, A. and P. Association were placed before the General Committee on Saturday afternoon. The secretary stated that the proceeds from the sheep and lambs frozen and forwarded to London amounted to £265 5® 4d. This sum is to be distributed among the exhibitors in the various, classes represented, and cash prizes totalling £ls will ibe added in laccordance with the awards made by the London o gents. I The London awards were as follow (the Masterton awards (being in parenthesis):— Pen of five wethers or five maidenj ewes:— W. H. Beetham 1 (second). Very good quality, meaty, short legs, well covered. W. H. Beetham 2 (v.h.c.) Very good quality, short legs, nice size, fairly well covered. W. E. C. Tvlee 3 (third). Very good quality, full of meat, short legs, mostly well covered; J. Strang 4 (unplaced). Good quality, full of meat, legs well covered. The first prize pen at Masterton (one owned by Mr W. H. Beetham) was unplaced in London.
■Five wethers or five ewes.— H. H. Beetham 1 (unplaced). Very good quality, fairly well covered, very meaty, nice size. J, Strang 2 (unplaced). Very good quality, short legs, meaty, very well finished. J. Strang 3 (unplaced). Very good quality, short legs. The Masterton; award placed J. Strang's ewes first and third, J. Strang's, wethers second, H. H .Beetham's sheep being v.h.c. and H. Horrison's ewes i.e. Five Down Rams/. W. Perry 1 (first). Fine quality, well finished, short legs, meaty. McGregor Bros. 2 (unplaced). Fine quality, short logs, very well covered, meaty.! J. 'Strang 3 (third). V eryfine quality, ■short legs, well covered, but slightly fat on ribs. J. C. McKillop's sheep were awarded second at Masterton, H. (H. Beetham's v.h.c., and H. Morrison's ih.c. Five Tegs.— W. Perry 1 (second). Very fine'quality, short legs, well covered, full of meat. T. W. McKenzie 2 (h.c.) Fine quality, short legs., well covered and meaty. W. H. Beetham 3 (first). Fine quality, very full of meat, two rather plain legs. H. H. Beetham 4 (unplaced). Fine quality, three very meaty, one maiden wasteful on ribs. Five Longwool Lambs.— W. H. Beetham 1 (second). Fairly good quality, two not finished. W. ,H. Beetham 2 (v.h.c.) Fair quality, hardly finished. McKenzie Bros 3 (third). Good quality, but plain in legs, not finished'. W. .E. C. Tylee 4 (unplaced). Good quality, too thin. J. Strang's exhibit was placed first, at Masterton.
