THOWFSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
The change of programme at tlio Forestens' Hall last evening drew a good house. The "star" picture was a capital drama entitled "The Fall of Troy." . It is> certainly one of the finest pictures presented in- Masterton. The destruction of Troy is a. capital scene, and as several hundred persons 1 take .part some idea of its magnificence may be gained. Supporting the picture are a number 'of excellent dramas, comedies and so&nics. In the former "The- Mission. Carrier" is a splendid Indian drama by the Kalem Co.,'while the "Lbnedale Operator" is a thrilling study produced in the A.B. Co.'© best style. "The Drummer Boy" i 3 a very interesting Vitagraph military drama. In comedy, "Captain < Barnacle's- Courtship" (a Yitagr-aph picture), and "All on account of the Milk" (an, A.8.) are two particularly good subjects, and. caused roars of laughter. Among the scenics, "Scenes in Sicily" call for special mention. A number of other firstclass pictures were shown. The programme will be repeated this, evening. On Saturday afternoon the usual matinee for' ohildren will take place. THE PANTOMIME. "JACK AND THE BEANSTALK.* The hox plan will ibe opened at Miss Rive's, this morning. From the point of view of vocal dtem>s, it would seem • that the ' pantomime extravaganza "Jack and the Beanstalk," to be presented here by Mr '■ J. 0. Williamsoni's company on Wednesday next, is more than equal to itsi predecessors. Many of the songs are (likely (to he utilised, iby the boy in the "street L isoles. "The Garden of Roses," two of the best'of 'Mis® Mabelle Morgan'® con>trtbutibasi, are ©lire to become popular. Miss Marie Eaton>, as "lantthe" .the Fairy Queen, has. a fine number in. "If were King,", while the lAeroplan.e song, ivith its alluring refrain, sung hy Miss Dorothy Firmriii!, is ant exceedingly catchy contribution. A series of incidental ibalietsi are .accredited with, being an the usual Williaanisonian- iscale of magnificence. The turn' presented iby the Pantzer troupe of acrobats is said to .be extraordinary. It i& affirmed that siome of .the feats •iwould be incredible were they not authenticated by visual proof. The Company is- numerically the llarge&t that Mr J. C. Williamson! has, yet semt to Masterton, numbering over 120 people, including a ballet by 40 picked dancers and a specially augmented orchestra. The Pantomime (has been Ifreely spoken, of by Australian critics a's "The best ever." It woujd .appear that, -for the merit, of itihe principalis oonoernved, oil previous organisations' have been surpassed.
