HOCKEY.
FIVEnA-SIDE TOURNAMENT.
The annual five-a-.swie hockey tournament under the auspices of the Wairarapa Hookey Association took, place at Carterton yesterday afternoon. All the teamsi competing were in good form, and: .stood the fast play well. The senior competition wais particularly keenly contested, there being a large number of d/rawm games. In the "A" .section every game was drawn. The final was a fast go .between Carterton "A" and St. Matthew's "B," At the call of time there was no score, but: on. continuring Carterton were successful in scoring, thus winning the senior competition. , The junior matches were also very interesting, hut there was only one drawn game. Excelsior succeeded in the final ia beating Dalefield "A" by one goal, to nil. The win of the Mastertpn. boys was a popular one. The matches were all got off to time,- and without a hitch, due entirely to '. the capable management of tlbe secretary (Mr A. C. Bragnell)., Messrs F. Rosson and O'Meaxa ((senior), and J. Fisher and J. Gray (junior),- controlled the games in an admirable manner.
