AUCKLAND, Last' Night. Both of the • eyeballs were smashed, the bridge of his nose was completely broken', and "ibis face was miucih bruised. It was found neoaasary to remove the right /•eye/and to stitch the left, and the injuries .to the latter are .so serious 'that it is feared it Avifl also have -to be removed. In any case the injured man will be totally blind.
(It appears almost certain! that 'the above message refers to a foria'&r settler of the Forty-Mile Bush and Masterton, a gentleman who 4 is highly respected by :all .who know him. Mr Ranby was a Macksmith -Tin Masterton some years ago, and was married to a Miss Wilton, of "ibis town.
