RAILWAY SERVANTS.
The railway servants of New Zealand may be trusted with the preservation of the lives of the travoMy ing public. But they cannot .be trusted with the political privilege® possessed by other sections of the community. The regulations prohibit a railway servant (from commenting upon the administration of any Department of State. v Such comment ,may .mean instant dismissal from the .service. Why railway servants should be placed under disabilities which are not suffered by those engaged in other occupations, it is difficult to understand. Your Liberal ■Goviern'ment, if it goes straight, should welcome the comments of its own servants. The fact that it prohibits such comments points to one •conclusion only. -
