COOKING DEMONSTRATION.

AT H. BEALE AND CO.'S. To say that the demonstration on the ''Perfection" Kerosene Stoves, ait the premises of Messrs H. Beale and Oa, were well-attended is to use a mild term. For a part of the, afternoon the crowd of ladies actually extended put to the footpath, tit© doorway being blocked. Naturally, many had to go away disappointed owing to the great,.crush, the paper bag cookery being one of the attractions. To" see pastry, meat etc.,.taken put of the oven wag a great surprise to those, who were fortunate enough to get a good view. Mreßobertsoii', the demonstrator, is to be congratulated on the great success of the exhibition,' especially" as she has come straight through, fronii Duffiedin, and was feeling somewhat fatigued. On Friday the demonstration, wall again be 'held between the hours* of 2 and 5 p.m., when, ievery-day cooking will -ibe done, c and a- wide- variety of gobdis trurned out; including bread, which will .serve-to: tisefxil and efficient the stoves are. People unacquainted i with' the' ' 'Perfectdon'' Kerosene Stovies have been/ inclined 'to look pin. them as a makeshift only; but a demonstration like that ■. of yesterday proves beyond doubt ttihiat they will do all that an orddn- , ary range will do, and at a small cost, while the saving in labour is very great. As a summer cooker, 'they are indeed "perfection"; the ease with which they cam be moved about being a great attraction.,while the cost has been proved to run. out at Id per hour per burner. Tliis means that a joint cam be cooked for two hours at a cost of one penny, one burner giving quite sufficient heat. Many visitors, yesterday expressed surpri.se at the entire absence of smell from, the kerosene, which was explained by the, faot of the burner being so constructed as to do away with all yellow, flame, the pure blue flame being a guaran-' tee of* aU absence of smoke and smell. The demonstrator sihowed great willingness to "give any explanation, or information) in. her pow- ; er, and ladies are invited to make any enquiry they wish. Messrs Beale and Go. wish, to make it plain rtihat Friday will not be devoted to paper-bag cookery, as a number of I would-be users, of the kerosene stoves have expressed a wish to see a full range of every-day cakes, scones, bread, tarts, meat, etc., turned out. The same hour® oni Saturday will be devoted to a demonstration, when one stove will be used entirely for paper-hag cookery, three others- being in use for the usual method.
