REFUSAL TO ANSWER QUESTIONS.

Received This Morning, 12.25 o'clock

WASHINGTON, August 9. . Mr George Perkins, director of the United States Steel Corporation, examined at the Congressional Enquiry refused to answer questions relating to a private campaign for contributions, also as to contributions made by the New York Life Insurance Company. * The Committee warned Mr Perkins that he was likely to he imprisoned to; contempt of Congress. Mr Perkins thereupon asked for time to reconsider his refusal. His request was granted.
