MEMORIAL SERVICES

TO THE LATE MR TAYLOR, M.P

WELLINGTON, Last Night

A very impressive memorial service to the late Mr T. E. Taylor was held in the.Town Hall this afternoon, and was attended by some 2000 people. The Rov. W. J. Comrie presided. Besides representatives of the local clergy there were present the Mayor of Wellington (Mr T. M. Wilford, M.P.), the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), and the Wellington members of Parliament. The service included the singing of tho hymns, "Lead Kindly Light," and "Abide With Me." -Addresses were given by the Chairman, Mr A. R. Atkinson, and Mr G. Laurenson, M.P., and the Rev. J. J. North, all of whom paid a high tribute to the late Mr Taylor's character and tho tremendous efforts he had mado in regard to social reform. Mr Maughan Barnett, the city organist, played the "Dead March in Saul." A fum of, £29 was collected towards the "Taylor" memorial fund.

Taylor's work and character were dei livered by the Rev. L. M. Isitt, Mrs IH. Cole, Mr J. McCdmbs, and , the i Rev. J. "DawFon. In several of the 1 City Churches memorial services were I held, and the Lalxmr Party held a memorial meeting in His Majesty's j Theatre this evening.
