CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE.
The monthly "pleasant evening." under the auspices of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held in the Drill HaJ3i, Masterton, last night, when- there -was a record attendance. The, first part of ihe evening was occupied, !hy f ,.a. etichre tournament, wihich .proved a most Enjoyable Sne.* The htdies;' prize was won by Mr%v Mike, whole Mr A. Wishhiit was ihe I successful gentleman.' Special prizes were taken.by Mr D; Miss Nash, and the',-'.booby werei| Resented,. i*y :Mi>ss, Cameron and,j •Mr J.. CJar'k. 'Poßowing : ti&s card' tournament, dancing was indulged in about 80 couples. Mr C. L. N. Petersen presided at the piano, •and Mr W. Sutherland provided the ibagpipe music for the Scotch dances. During tie evening two action songs were rendered by the Lanisdowme school and Masters Pauling (2) and ! Miss Pauling' danced the Highland Fling. The entertainment was a huge success, due entirely to the efforts of Mr J. H< Pauling, the presiding Director, who worked energetically to .make the gathering a "popular one. '"- ."■'•■'•'; :;,?
