STRENGTHENING THE POSITION.

LONDON, August 3
Nine banks in Yorkshire have subscribed two million pounds to enable the Yorkshire Penny Bank to become a company by capital instead of i company by guarantee. A second group of banks, including the Bank of England, will give individual.guarantees to the step taken, owing to the anxiety. The Birkbeck suspension has adversely affected the Penny Bank
