MASTERTON STOCK SALE
i Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., repbrt on their Solway sale yes- , terday as follows: —We submitted a '. medium entry of sheep and cattle to a - fair attendance. We have to report a total clearance at late rates:—Fat I wethers, 17s 3d; fat ewes, 14s; 2-tooth wethers,' 13s "to 18s S3; mecHunvhoggets, 8s 5d to 8s 9d; aged rams, 9s 6d to 10s; empty cows, £2 15s. Ewefi'ih lainb werejiibi [very keenly sought after, and 1 vendors had to reduce their reserves very con- , siderably before sales were effected, j Good hoggets met with a ready sale, and practically all yarded were sold .under the hammer. We quote as follows : —Woolly hoggets, 10s'to 10s 6d ; f .m: ewes in lamb, to 10s; fat cows, to £6 10s; dairy cows, £7 7s 6d. ■j The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows: —The l entries in sheep were chiefly breeding ewes, and with a risirig market we were enabled to make' a clearance. In cattle the list embraced all classes, and some useful steers and heifers offered. The. condition, however, was somewhat against several lots to; drag,; although, with the exception <jfva few very backward' cows and heifers,. we sold practically the whole catalogue. In dairy stock, some choice cows, close to profit, reached high figures. Ewes in lamb, fairly good, lis to 12s 6d; store wethers, 13s; medium hoggets, 10s; 2£ year steers, £4 15s; 18-months steers, £3 10s; yearlings, £2 to £2 10s; 18-months heifers, £2 18s 6d; good cows, close to profit, £7 10s to £9; late carvers, in good condition, £4 10s to £5; harness gelding, £ll.
