MENTAL HOSPITAL TRAGEDY.
AUCKLAND, Last Nighit. On the 24th dnst. an inmate- of th» Avondale Meoiital Hospital, earned Johansen, was working with another man., an Austrian, on the hospital farm, when, he. was attacked by his companion, and struck on the head with a sipade. Johansen' was badly hurt, and was medically attended, but to died today.
FOUND DROWNED.
NAPIER, Last Night. Tho body of Captain Sivert Holland, of the ligtoiteir Moa, who had been missing since' Wednesday last, was found in the inmer harbour thisi afternoon:, close to the wiharf ,• wbere the Moa is> usually moored.

WELLINGTON, Last Night. sequel to a recent case, in which a young woman, was sent to gaol for 21 days for exposing her child in a manner likely to injurtf its health, but who was released, three days Later in consequence of a strong public agitation, was heard in the Magistrate's Count to-day, when Thomas WeUs was adjudged- father of the child.
