There are fortyfour members on each side,, the Liberal® and Independents being ranged against'the Labourites. The non-Labour Party will accept, the Speakership. Mr Holman states that the resignation of the Government was not contemplated until Messrs Home and Dunn caused the loss of the working majority on which they relied since taking office. He was sorry the House . did not carry the adjournment motion, and he advised the LieutenantGovernor to prorogue the House until after the bye-elections. His advice wj.s riot accepted, and the only course left open to him was to resign.;, ; ■ • , Mr Griffiths, in the course of an in- i terview, attacked the LieutenantGovernor, asserting that he had dis- . played partiality.
