OBERiISTICHTJRCH, Last Ndght. Mr T. E. /Taylor, M.P., Mayor of Ghrisltchurch, passed peacefully away at 6.15 o'clioaK this evening, in the presence of tHo whole of his famg iiy. Tlhe late Mayor passed a quiet migihit, but gradually became weaker. lie retac'iied consciousness up till about miri-d'ay. During the morning he hiad an interview with Mr L, M. Isitt, and •dici/alted several messages to. his friend® and conistlituents. Hi© was in a very weak atate, and the convereaitioiii was conducted in whispers. 'L'bm morning the Deputy-Mayor (Mr J. J. Dougall) called at the Nursing Home, and was informed that Mr Taylor was sinking, and could not last much longer. At 3.10 p.m. it was reported that he was gradually getting worse, and the whoi* of has family, was suonamoned to his bedside, as the end was expected at any moment. There was no further change at 4.20 p.m., and it was 5.15 o clock when tihe end came. The news of Mr Taylor's death lias caused profound grief in, the city, in which he was loved and respected.
