Branoepeth and T.e Parae. As Braiiicopth' 'had won the first' match, and' Taueru' have ibeen . practising assiiduou sily 'ever .since,. very keen interest has been taken in the fixture. The Brancepeth team was practically unchanged, while Taueru suffered from the loss of "Tas" Smith, who (broke some ribs ill' iliis last match, but it was by the inclusion of C. Ellers. It was seen from the start that Taueru had greatly /improved in the fortnight, and handled the ball more las if they were used .to it. In the first spell Bethune drew first blood, scoring a try closo rto the corner post. -A. shot at goal added nothing to the score. . Iri the second ;'spell-.Brancepetlx were ; kept' mostly; on the defensive, although once or
twice, by hard work, they cam© near scoring, Taueru .twice being forced down. When play .worked back to Brancepeth territory again C. Filers snapped up the ball and slipped through near the posts, allowing an easy shot at goal. Kara added the extra poinits, making the score Taueru 8, Brancepeth 0. The play sport after' reached Taueru territory again, when Motete unsuccessfully attempted a shot at goal from a mark. No further points were, scored, tho game ending in a wan for Taueru by Bto nil. This match; gives each team a win, so that a strenuous game may 'be expected on Saturday, when, amr/fchar match will be played at Taueru.
