FREE SCHOOL BOOKS.
It is not inappropriate that at thisj period th© Government sliwuld do something for the man with a family. It taxes every article of clothing that lie wears ; every bit of food that hj& consumes. It how says that it will hand back a little- in itho shape of f rcia school books. The WellingtonEducation Board was yesterday informed that free books, which were previously granted up to the fourth standard, will now be oxtended to the fifth and sixth standards. This may not be a very great concession. It is something for the man with a family. Everybody will be more or less pleased, though a step in the direction, of a "free .breakfast table" I would have been still more welcome. By the way, the elections will take place in about four months' time.
