LONDON WOOL SALES

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report having recived the following cablegram from their London office, under date of the 19th inst,: — "Wool. —Market firm. Prices for greasy wools are practically on a par with closing rates of last series."

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 19th inst: — "Wool. —As compared with last sales closing rates prices are higher about par to 5 per cent for greasy and scoured merino super and fine greasy crossbreds; about the same for coarse greasy crossbred; lower by about par to 5 per cent for merino inferior, medium greasy crossbred, and faulty wool; lower by about 5 to. per cent for scoured crossbred and slipe medium crossbred; lower by five per cent for slipe fine and coarse crossbred. There is a small demand for America. "Wheat. —Have sold a New Zealand parcel at 32s 3d, c.i.f. The market is steady. There is very little demand, and crop reports are unfavourable. We quote per quarter, c.i.f., New Zealand wheat, long-berried, 32s 3d; short-berried, 310 SM."

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having held on behalf of Mr J. O'Neill, at Ballalnce, a highly successful sale of sheep, daiiy -stock, implements, etc. The sheep comprised a particularly nice line of breeding ewes and hoggets, and elicited strong competition, making 17s and 10s respectively. The dairy herd numbered 68, and were a real good lot, and in good condition. Prices ranged from £5 5s to £l6 5s —ho doubt a, record for the season —the whole herd averaging £8 Bs. The 68 cows were sold in the record time of 65 minutes. Heifers in calf brought £3 15s to £5 ss; 20-month heifers, £3 12s; yearling heifers, £2 Is to £2 8s 6d ; 20month steers, £3 18s 6d ; yearling steers, £2 ss; Holstein bull, £5 10s. Implements, furniture and sundries sold at good values.
