HARDLY A FAIR TEST.
At the meeting of the Ma&teriou Chamber of Commerce yesterday, a letter was read from the Minister for Railways advising 'the Chamber that the afternoon train between. Masterton and Woodville would ibe given a trial. The Chairman -said it was a pity that this train was about to be taken off. He mis of opinion that it should have ibeen given a fair itrial in the summer months. On the motion of Alii- Keith, seconded by Mr Henderson, it was decided ' "That the Minister of Railways be asked to supply details of the traffic on the 4 ip.m. passenger train to Woodville, recently discontinued, and to staite why it was decided *o discontinue it; also that it ,be pointed out to hiim that a month's '.trial :n the middle of winter was hardly a fair test." ■Mr Ohennells pointed out that there was a train at sax o'clock in the evening.
