THE HIGH COMMISSIONER.
CABLE FROM SIR JOSEPH. REPORTS CONTRADICTED. By Telearavh — Tress Association. WELLINGTON, Last Nicht. A cablegram from the Prime Minister has been received by Sir Jas. Carroll, which makes the position clear regarding the re-appointment of Sir. William Hall-Jones as High Commissioner. It reads: "You can give a public contradiction to the rumour regarding my taking the position of High Commissioner, also the suggestion regarding Sir Robert Stout and Dr. Findlay. There are no such intentions. The position is that the High Commissioner has his appointment extended to the end of August, and has not tendered his resignation to me, and the whole matter is standing over for consideration by .Cabinet until my return."
