TOWN-PLANNING.
The Hon. G-. Fowlds ha® threatened to introduce a measure in the coming session of Parliament, dealing with the subject of town-planning. The word "threatened" is used in its imost "Liberal" sense, for so many threats are held out now-a-days at eleotion times that there is a danger of their being mistaken for measures of statesmanlike policy. Should the threat of the genial Single-Taxer be carried into execution, there will be food for a good deal, of discussion in the Souse in the 'dry days preceding the arrival of the gallant Baronet. The question | of town-planning opens up a wide vista of possibilities for . the future. It even brings within its scope the problem of land settlement. For it must be obvious that if .towns are to be planned for the future, the land must >be opened for .settlement oh such tennis that towns will be. likely to be created. Meanwhile the Town-planning Bill will be awaited with interest.
