PARIS, July 12. Three more attempts to derail trains were made yesterday in addition to wire cutting and other forms of sabotage. Several arrests have been made.

LONDON, July 12. The Standard says that the Labour Party has conferred with Mr Fisher as to the advisability of closer relations between the respective Labour •JParties of the Empire by means of an interchange at regular intervals in the Motherland and each of the Overseas .Dominions in turn. Definite proposals were drafted and would be discussed at a conference between the Labour Party and Labour members of the Overseas Parliaments at the House of Commons next week.

MELBOURNE, July 13
The Trades Council deputation protested to the Acting-Premier against the proposal to import artisan labour. Mr Watt replied that he.was going to import artisans, but not under contract. He was sick of this whining from the Trades Hall. It w;as not a sound proposition that scarcity of labour should be maintained in order to engage workers to get a higher wage.

LONDON, July 12
Archer Newton, Crippen's solicitor, against whom the English Law Society proceeded to show cause why he should not be struck off the rolls, i for a breach of professional etiquette in publishing certain letters, has been suspended for twelve months, and ordered to pay the costs of the action. Mr Justice Darling stated that he was satisfied that Crippen had not been defended as he should havo s been. The case was conducted largely for the purpose of making newspaper copy, and others beside Newton deserved punishment.

Sir Edward Grey, in reply to a question, said he was making inquiries concerning a private complaint that the French customs officials in Morocco were seriously hampering British traders by preferential treatment of French firms.

TANGIER, July 12. After clearing the road from Mequinez, General Monier has reached Rabat. Mulia Hand, in a message to the people, rejoices at the satisfactory result of his appeal to the French for help.

France has demanded ah explanation from Spain regarding the incidents at Alcazar, including the stoping of the French courier. A Spanish steamer has landed at Larache 200 more artillerymen and four mountain guns.

OTTAWA, July 12.
The town of Coohrane, in the Porcupine mining district, was destroyed by bush fires. The fires are spreading, and settlers are fleeing from their homes. Rain only can save the Porcupine mining camp. Ascada, a small town in Michigan, was wiped out by a fire starting in the slab-yards. The flames spread to the adjoining settlement, and the inhabitants escaped steamer. A relief train was'wrecked. It is not known if there have been any fatalities. Forest fires are endangering other : .towns.
(Received July 13, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 12. The Colonial express, leaped an embankment when travelling" at sixty miles an hour. Five Pullman cars, a day coach, and a baggage car crashed into the streets below. Twelve people were killed, and fortyfour were injured. King Young, a machinist, was driven insane by the accident, although not injured. The train was 'ate, and the engine driver was endeavouring to make up lost time. The day coach wa* smashed to matchwood, and everyone on board was killed or injured.
