Dr. Bradshaw leaves Masterton on His return to Christchurch this morning.
Mr F. M: B, Fisher, M.P., is to deliver a political address at Eketahuna at an early date. Mr Watene Whiro( (Watson Hemi; will probably be a candidate for the Southern Maori District. He is being rominated by the Ngatihuia.
Mrs Steele, of Napier, mother-in law of Constable Bird,- of Masterton, is at present on a visiy to this town.
The late Sir Eldon : Gerst was a nephew of Mr F.-'Gi Moore, County Clerk, of Masterton, Sir John Gorst having married a sister of Mr Moore. A visit was made to Masterton some years back by Lady. Gorst; Miss Aya Sym>nds, of Hastings, who toured the Dominion with the Sheffield Choir orchestra, is at present staying with friends in Masterton. Mr B. J. Do-lan, of Napier, and formerly of Masterton,- '.as been reques ted to act as judge of the elocutionary competitions at ?,he Cluistchuroh competitions io be held in May, 1912. The,-irrepressible Mr>R. ;E. Hornblow, one time of Masterton, but now running a newspaper at Mangaweka, has- intimated bjs inlentibn of again contesting the Oroua «eat in. the Government interest. .-
The death is reported of Mr Harold Strange, who was the principal witness in the Woolf Joel murder case, and a member of the Jameson Reform Committee of 1895. r Ne*wa has been received of the death in Sydney of Mi John Arthur, who was for some years manager of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Lerm and Mercantile Agency "Company, The who leaves a widow, three sons and six daughters, was well-known in Masterton and the Forty-Mile Bush.
At St. Mary's Church, Carterton, on Wednesday afternoon, Mivs Eva L. DeLacey, youngest daughter, of the late Mr A- H. De Lacey, was married to Mr John Lenihan, second son of the late Mr J. Lenihan, of Warrigal, Grippsland, Victoria. The ceremony was performed hy the Rev. Father Harnett, of Masterton, and the bride was given away hy her brother, Mr C; J. De Lacey.. Misses D. De Lacey and J. Lenihan were bridesmaid?, and Mr W. L. De Lacey best man. A reception was held later at the residence of the bride's mother, and in the evening a number of guests were entertained at a social gathering in the Fire Brigade Hall.
