THE SHEARER.
[To The Editar.l Sir, — Mr Nivalis is very an*:>r.s to see a school started, to teach young fellows machine shearing. Ag the manager of AnnedaJe station is a strong advocate for the minimum wage, it would he a good idea if he engaged a few learners at the station's expense this* coming season. My advice to every young fellow; who is in constant- work is, that h© would be mad to throw up a billet to take the game on. It only lasts about six weeks.. There may be some who make good cheques at it, but the majority of shearers may think themselves lucky if they clear £2O for the season. It is a dirty, filthy game at the best, and all solid, hard work, and a mam who can. shear 100 sheep or over per day honestly earns his pound per hundred. I am, etc., TWENTY YEARS A SHEAKJSR.
