V CARTERTON (9~BED STAR (3). The above teams mot at Carterton. Carterton won the toss, and Red Star kicked off with the sun an their eyes. Carterton immediately pressed, and from a .scrum an the visitors' twenty-fives a passing rush was started which resulted dh N. McKenzie scoring. No goaf resulted. Shortly after Stars attacked, and before long N. Chamberlain ■orossed tihe line an the cornec The kick at goal failed. Just before half time N. Chamberlain attempted a pot, and missed the goal by a. narrow margin. Two easy chances' .to obtain goals, from penalty kiobs were missed by the viisitors in the first half. Shortly after the commencement of the iseoond half Groube secured the ball, and, heating the opposing hacks, soared in the corner. The atftempt to convert the try failed. A very even game resulted at Gladstone Ibetween Gladstone and Masterton. Masterton put up a very good fight with a weak t«am, and were unfortunate in not (scoring on several occasions. Gladstone scored an unconverted try in the first half, and a converted try in the iseoond half. Mr Roydhouse was referee. \ ■ i JUNIOR. MASTERTON v. CARTERTON. WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION. managemeot^ommittee. The fortnightly meeting of the Management' Committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union, was held at Carterton on Saturday, Mr A. Booth presiding.. Apologies foil absence were received from Messrs Charters and Chapman. Mr A.- N. Burma, schoolmaster at Carterton; wrote, asking for a grant towards putting up -and entertaining the Wellington Schools' representative team in, the match, with Waira<rapa Schools, to be played this, year at Carterton.— Decided to grant £5, of same to be left in the hands' of Messrs Charters and Burn®. ;.' ;Mr T. H. Hughes, Carterton, quoted prices of footballs for the Union's supply to Wairarapa 'Schools.— Left in the hands of secretary. The New Zealand Rugby Union forwarded a list of disqualificationis imposed by different' Unions, also removals of same. A team of Wairarapa Natives asked permission to try and arrange a match with the touring Native team.—Permission was granted. The touring Native team, wrote, stating that owing to various circumstances they would 'be compelled to alter l the-date of the match with Wairarapa to Thursday, August 3rd, and asking where the match Avould
now foe played.—Resolved to play the matdi at Carterton. The Hawke's Bay Union asked if this Union' intended to play a match iat Napier this season. —Resolved to point out to Hawke's Bay that as they owe Wairarapa a visistT this season, this Union cannot seo their way to play at Napier. The Wanganui B.ugby Union* • wrote, regretting that as their teamwould probably be .touring South they could not play Wairarapa this> season.—Decided to ask if they cannot arrange for a .match on their way hack. The Masterton. junior team wrote , ire the forfeiting of their match with Carterton juniors- last Saturday, explaining that they had a, team, but were unable to obtain a drag.—Reisolved not to -enforce the fine, under the circumstances. H. Matson, of Carterton, declared himself off the Union's accident fund, and claimed five weeks.' insurance pay.— Passed for payment. G. Juno, of Feath.er.ston Club, declared himself on the insurance fvnd, and enclosed doctor's certified &, etc. It was decided to obtain prices re printing the Wairarapa Rugby Union's revised miles and by-laws. I The -Date-field Club protested against Feather ston on the ground of playing an alleged Wellington senior in the match against them. —After reading correspondence from various Wellington Clubs and hearing the Feathers-ton. Club's secretary on the subject, it was 1 decided to dismiss the protest. It was decided to play, this season, a North v. South third-class representative match, North to consist of .players from Red Star, Mas- 1 terton, and Dalefield, and South J players from Carterton, Greytown-, j and Feather ston, each team to noma- j uate a selector immediately. / Resolved to play two senior North ' v. South matches this season, first at .Masterton on July 22nd,'and the other at Carterton on the following Saturday. The North-team will consist of players from Red Star and Masterton, to play in. black jerseys., anid South players from Carterton and -Gladstone, playing in grjeen. 'Resolved, that iiu future any player classified Be granted a clearance immediately to the first' Club in the- - higher grade for which he plays, provided his own-Club have no team engaged in that grade, or cannot find a place for him. •Resolved to write asking the Gladstone Clmb if they have any ob~, jections to playing their match with Carterton there instead of Gladstone next Saturday. Mr 08. McKenzie (treasurer) reported a "credit (balance to date of £72 10s. Accounts amounting to £4 13s wore passed for payment.
