RETURN OF THE COMMISSION. A Press Association telegram from Auckland "states that the Chief Justice and Mr Waldegrave returned from the Cook Islands by the Talune late on Friday night. In the charge of murdering a native, preferred against a painter named Wigmore, the accused was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to six months' imprisonment. He was also ordered to leave, the islands. The enquiry regarding the charges against the Administration was' a private' one. The persons making allegations against the Commissioner declined to give evidence. It is understood that the Chief Justice came to the conclusion that the charges were unjustified.
