EXCURSION STEAMER RUNS ASHORE. TWO WOMEN DROWNED. (Received Last Night, 5,5 o'clock.) OTTAWA, July 1. The Spokane, a steamer carrying 150 excursionists, has run ashore, and is in a sinking condition. Two women, who became panicstricken, jumped overboard, and were drowned. A wireless message summoned the aid of the steamer Admiral Sampson, which rescued the passengers and the crew. The Spokane will probabiy become a total loss. One of the victims was Mrs Williams, the wife of a Washington millionaire, who made his fortune at African diamond mining.
