NO-LICENSE "RALLY."
The No-license demonstration' held , in Masterton last evening can only ! be pronounced a magnificent success from the point of view of those interested in the reform. The faet that, on a miserably cold night, a thousand people packed themselves into the Town Hall, and that scores were turned away, is evidence in itself of the immense enthusiasm of the public upon this absorbing question. The report of the organiser (Mr Jabez Bridges) was most convincing, as far as it went, and while the speakers were prepared to admit that a considerable quantity of liquor continues to find its way to the .district, overwhelming evidence was adduced to show that morally, if not commercially, the town has immensely improved under No-license conditions. The tame may arriye when the objectionable features which surround No-license, in the shape of sly-grogging and home-drinking, will almost entirely disappear.
