Mr A. G. Millington, who has been head gaoler.at Wellington for a number of years, died yesterday from an internal complaint. ; The Revs. Dawson and Dewdney, of Wellington, will be in Masterton today for tli3 No-License demonstration. The Clutha Leader reports the death of Robert Wells at his home in North Balclutha on Sunday evening. About five o'clock he went out to bring in the cows. Shortly afterwards one of his daughters heard the cows bellowing in, alarm, and on going out to investigate the cause she found her father lying dead. ' Mr Benjamin Alfred Buckley, 83 years of age, died at Hook on Sunday -<says the Waimafe Advertiser). ..-Mr Buckley wai a native of County Wicklow, Ireland, and came out to the Victorian diggings in the fifties. He joined the Victorian Police Force, and subsequently came to New Zealand. For some time he was stationed at Christchurch as a Sergeant of police, and later was at Akaroa, Timaru, and Invercargill, where he was inspector. Mr J. Heyhoe, recently of Masterton, has been appointed manager of the drapery department at the Pahiatua branch of the W.F.C.A. The Eketnlmna Express records the death of an aid and highly-respected resident of the district in the person of Mr Thomas Ash worth, who died at his residence, Parkville, on Tuesday evening. Deceased, who was 69 years of age, had been a sufferer for some months past, and died from cancer. He leaves a wife and grown up family to mourn their loss. Mr F. V. Frazer, S'M., will temporarily carry out the duties of Mr Kerr, S.M., Wanganui, who broke his arm in a trap accident a few days ago. The remains of the late Sister Maty Michael were interred in the Masterton cemetery yesterday afternooncThe funeral cortege was lengthy, testified to the high esteem thje deceased Sister had beenyheld.
