There are several vacancies in the Legislative Council of New Zealand which will require shortly to be filled." The Government will probably dangle them before their rank and, file until the elections are over. It may then, however, bo too late, and a new ,party in power may do things differently. It would be well, therefore, if the Government took time by the forelock. There are quite a number of aspirants, eligible and otherwise, for the honour of seconding the resolution of Sir Joseph Ward, 'Bart., in "another place." These should moist certainly be rewarded for their faithfulness.
