In their second match 'New Zealand showed a great improvement in every department, the hacks and forwards' combination being excellent. A hard game, which was rough at times, resulted. Several players ON -both sides were cautioned. There were forty thousand spectators we sent. W,hen New South Wales kicked off the New Zealand forwards immediately worked on to the New South Wales line, and .several chances were missed, x'earce, getting the hall from the ruck, passed to Hallet, who transferred to Broomham, and the hitter scored. Messenger converted the try. Immediately on resuming, from a wild passing rush, Pearce dived across. Messenger again added the extra points. Although the New Zealand hacks were playing well, they were no match, for their more skilful opponents. Shortly after MeKivitt scored, Messenger converting. The scores at half time were: New South Wales 15 points, New Zealand mil. 1 On starting the second half the New Zealand forwards, Dunning and Francis, ware*conspicuous in a great, rush. McDonald, securing the ball from the ruck, pased to Morse, and the latter passed to Sprague, who scored. Seager succeeded in convert- ' ing the try. Shortly after B>roomhaim again scored for New South Wales, hut Messenger failed with the kick at goal. When play resumed McDonald got the bail from the i scrum, passed to Buckland, who in turn passed to Framcis, and the latter transferred to Seager, who dived across. Seager also converted the try. Thence forward New South Wales had the game all their own j way, Riussell' and McOue scoring i tries-, and Messenger converting one. The final scores were: New South Wales 26, New Zealand 10. Of a fine set of forwards. Francis and Savoury played the best. McDonald (half) and Grille* V (full back) were excellent. New South Wales, j without exception, played well. '.
