SHOCKING FATALITY. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A woman named Mrs Kate Wallace was run over by a tram in the city tonight. Wiien picked up she was unconscious, and was terribly mutilated. She was conveyed to the Hospital by the ambulance, but expired before arrival. TARANAKI LRONSAND. WAITARA, Last Night. Recent developments in connection with the treatment of ironsand on the Waitara foreshore are creating considerable interest. Messrs Curtis, who are connected with American capitalists, have had terms placed before them, giving them a right to work the sand from the beach, the main point of which is 6d per ton. royalty on the manufactured article, with 100 per cent extra if the sand is removed more than four miles away from the beach for treatment. The lease, loaded with improvements, will have to be secured under public competition.
