PIECE WORK CLAIM ALLOWED

SYDNEY, June 20,
Judge Heydon, in delivering judgr ment in the appeal of the carcase butchers from the award of the Butchering Board, allowed the claim for piece work. ' In the course of his judgment, Judge said that if they were to make arbitration successful, and root it in the confidence'-of the community, it must be dissociated from all connection with the manacling of the energies, the brains, and the freedom of the managers of our industries. "We intend," said the Judge, "if it be humanly possible, that for all manhood, the independence, and the comfort of the humblest shall be maintained, but the path to that does not lie through hobbled industry, hampered business, and restraints upon the production of wealth.
