A GENEROUS ACT.
The friends in Masterton of the Rev. L. M. Isitt—and they are many—will applaud his action in the case in which, subject to certain lawpoints, he was awarded £SOO damages agaiiiiSt a Giriistchurcli tradesman, for publishing his name in a Trade Protection paper. Mr Isitt said lie washed' only to clear his character and establish his credit, and generously abandoned his claim to £490 of the damages to which lie wouM probably liave been entitled. This conduct on the part of Mr Isitt is characteristdo of the broadminded man itihat he is. The result of the case in which he was concerned will, it is hoped, have a salutary effect upon a practise which has latterly come into grave abuse in this country. The names of reputable people (who may or may not be temporarily embarassed) are bandied about by a certain class of tradesmen with a freedom which is highly objectionable.
