CHRISTCHUiRCH, Last Night. Edward Savill, a man 01 years of age, who was butted by a cow at Styx on Friday evening, and knock- j ed over, died yesterday morning. The medical evidence at the inquest to-day showed that Savill's spine [ was dislocated. _ INQUEST ON NORMA PHILLIPS. GISBORNE, Last Night. An inquest was held on Saturday on tlie body of the little' girl Norma, Ellen Phillips, who fell off the train, at Te Karaka on Friday night, and was almost decapitated. In finding that the deceased child met its death by the wheels of the train f passing over its head, the jury added a rider that the jerking motion in the .starting of the train was cohrtributory to the fatality, and they strongly suggested that some menas should be'taken to minimise the danger. FOUND DROWNED. NAPIER, Last Night. The body of a man, apparency 70 yieiars of age, was found floating in the harbour near Glasgow Wharf at 3 o'clock this,, afternoon. She wake'later to find that her clothes had caught on fire, and rushed into the street enveloped in a m/assi of flames. Seeing the woman'is sad plight a neighbour, Mr E. Brace, ran out with a, blanket, with whkth he succeeded in smothering the flames.
